Regardless of who you enlist for help with your organizing needs, there are a few skills they must have in order to be successful with helping you. As a professional home organizer with Jo’s Organizing Services, I have learned over the years that:
1) A home organizer must be able to stay focused on the task at hand, which is not always easy to do;
2) She or he must be able to use strategies to “de-stress”, when necessary because some organizing projects can be over-whelming to the client as well as the organizer. A good organizer should be encouraging, reassuring. A sense of humor helps, also.
3) A home organizer must always respect the client’s privacy. There is absolutely no place for pre-judging with regard to a person’s character or situation here. 4) A home organizer must have knowledge and resources to help their client not only “get organized” but “stay organized.”
